Champion Award
The purpose of the Champion Award is for the APSNA Board of Directors to honor an individual(s) who support(s) and promote(s) APSNA members in their pursuit of the organizational strategic vision.

2025 Champion Award Recipient
Dr. William Middlesworth
Dr. William MIddlesworth was nominated by two APSNA members Jeanne Rubsam Kane and Lori Lynch, current APSNA President. In the nomination letter he is described as someone who teaches the "why" of clinical decisions, and ways to improve care for both the patients and caregivers. Dr. Middlesworth has patients that travel over 5,000 miles to receive his care and expertise. He is an honorable role model to the entire pediatric surgical community. Furthermore, he has taught to look for solutions to challenging situations in work. He has taken the time to teach, draw a picture of a patient's complicated anatomy when needed or give a word of encouragement after a difficult situation. His continued mentorship, enthusiasm, humor, authenticity and advocacy carry out the APSNA mission of being the leading authority in pediatric surgical nursing.
