Spotlight Award
The purpose of the Spotlight Award is to recognize any APSNA member who demonstrates involvement in pediatric surgery above and beyond the usual job expectations.

2025 Spotlight Award Recipient (Q2)

Cherie Crumpler, MSN, RN, CNOR, NPD-BC
Cherie Crumpler has 17+ years of nursing experience with the most recent 9+ years dedicated to the care of pediatric surgical patients at Nemours Children’s Hospital (NCH), Delaware (DE).
As a previous Service Coordinator and current Clinical Nurse Educator, Cherie participates in enterprise, hospital, and departmental continuous improvement initiatives to ensure safe, quality pediatric surgical interventions.
Cherie’s experience and expertise as a member of the Surgical Site Infection, Pressure Injury Prevention, and CAUTI taskforce is valued in identifying interventions and preventative measures associated with each of these areas of risk.
She collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to facilitate education for new systems, equipment, and procedures in the operating room (OR) and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) in alignment with best practices and evidence-based research in pediatric surgical nursing.
Cherie is an adjunct instructor for the RN-BSN program at Wilmington University, a peer reviewer for the AORN Journal, and Chairperson of the AORN National Committee on Education.
