Over the past few weeks, APSNA has received many questions from nurses, exhibitors, and others regarding our 29th Annual Scientific Conference, novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and our intention to continue with the upcoming conference. Everyone, including APSNA, wants a conference that is an outstanding experience and certainly one that assures a safe environment.

Our Executive Committee has been meeting daily to assess the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organization that include advising social distancing and postponing or cancelling mass gatherings. As many of you know, the federal government issued a directive on March 9, 2020, by Vice President Mike Pence that Americans should “avoid crowds.” Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis, declared a State of Emergency in Florida this past week, and our healthcare audience have been severely impacted by institutional travel restrictions.

After carefully considering the emerging evidence as well as our responsibility to our conference participants, the local communities they serve, and to be consistent with our values of communication, quality, innovation and collaboration the APSNA Board of Directors regret to inform you, that the 29th Annual Scientific Conference scheduled for May 11-14, 2020, in Orlando, Florida is cancelled.

Cancellation

We will be refunding all conference registrants and exhibit partners in the the next 3 weeks the fees that they have paid to APSNA. You do not need to contact us to submit written cancellation requests per our standard policy from this point forward. For those whose cancellation requests were previously processed, our staff team will be refunding the $50 cancellation fee in the coming weeks. All registrants will receive refunds and no registrant will be assessed any event cancellation fees. If you would like to donate all or a portion of your refund to APSNA please contact us at info@apsna.org by Friday March 20, 2020.

What's Next?

We will follow our strategic plan by promoting innovative education processes. The APSNA Board of Directors will endeavor to find innovative and cost-effective solutions to provide our conference participants with an engaging online educational experience that incorporates many of the components that make our conference so successful. We will continue to update all 2020 conference participants and APSNA members on our plans through our website and digital communications.

Travel Plans

Given the current situation with COVID-19, many airlines have already put out messaging to alert their passengers about opportunities to cancel flights or receive a credit for a flight reservation. You will need to call your flight carrier to speak directly with their team about your reservation.

If you were staying in the APSNA/APSA hotel room block, you need to call the hotel directly to cancel your reservation. Reservations cancelled more than 72 hours prior to check-in will not be charged.
