APSA and APSNA agreement for Annual Conference
Thursday, March 12, 2020
Do you know that APSA and APSNA have had an agreement since 2010 that allows APSNA to share in APSA’s contract with the hotel where the annual meeting is held?
How does this affect APSNA’s registrants? APSNA attendees benefit by access to room block availability and discount pricing, catering discounts, concessions such as complimentary in-room internet, and complimentary health club access, as extended under their contract. In turn, we boost APSA’s registrant volume by 20 percent. We recognize the proximity to APSA’s meeting also provides opportunities to network with surgical colleagues.
How does this impact APSNA? Under this arrangement, APSNA does not need to contract with the hotel individually, as this is not necessary. However, this agreement does determine the dates and location of the meeting each year, often years in advance.
Why is this important to you? APSNA has received comments over the years by attendees stating that the conference location is expensive and have expressed interest in a lower cost meeting. For this reason, we believe it is important that members understand this is why the Annual Conference is held in the specific venues offered each year. We want to note that this information has been shared in various announcements throughout the years, including the post-conference summary. However, we want to share with our members again that this is the current arrangement between the two organizations, particularly as we head into our next meeting in two short months
