Texas Health Allen has an exciting full time opportunity for an experienced Pediatric RN. This is for a brand new 6-bed Pediatric unit scheduled to open April 2012.


  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Must have 1 year recent pediatric nursing experience as a RN - from an acute care/hospital setting required.
  • RN license to practice in the State of Texas.
  • BLS/CPR for Healthcare Providers and PALS certifications current upon hire.
  • A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills - computerized charting with EPIC/Care Connect.
  • Ability to work with children in age range of 29 days old to 17 years of age.
  • Able to work with surgical patients - for example, ear, nose and throat procedures - tubes in ears, tonsil removals, etc.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.


  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • More than 1 year of Pediatric RN experience from the acute care/hospital setting


Full-time: 7:00AM-7:00PM, (3) 12-hour shifts/week including rotating weekends and holidays

  • Provides direct patient care and coordinates all patient care provided by the multidisciplinary team.
  • Actively participates in staff meetings, committee meetings, and in-services.
  • Participates on hospital committees or initiatives as appropriate.
  • Precepts and/or mentors new employees.
  • Supports/maintains effective communication among physicians, staff and other departments.
  • Flexible with scheduling to help meet departmental/patient needs.
  • Makes arrangements for own coverage.
  • Adapts to changes in workload assignment to meet changing needs of the individual patient or the unit.
  • Uses Clinical Practice Model philosophy to work in partnership with peers, other disciplines, and unlicensed assistive personnel.
  • Practices appropriate telephone and call light etiquette.
  • Relays messages accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Practices confidentiality and privacy and complies with HIPPA guidelines.
