Past or present experiences and responsibilities that contribute to your qualifications for the office sought

After reviewing the outstanding APSNA opportunities, I’ve realized that so much of what I do, on an everyday basis, as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for pediatric surgery, corresponds to what the developmental chair’s responsibilities are, however on a slightly smaller scale. I’m highly involved with collaboration between the parent’s, surgeon’s and manufacturing companies in creatively obtaining surgical devices, wound and ostomy products, gastrostomy feeding devices, and any specialty products for our patients with special needs, always with a primary goal to improve quality outcomes at the most cost effective, safest and efficient way.

I have had the honor and privilege of being a guest speaker at the APSNA 2013 conference and working with fellow APSNA colleagues in researching Childhood and Adolescent Obesity. This experience enriched my life both professionally and personally.

I recently acted as the President of Van Vorst Condo Association 2013-14, a historic building society in Jersey City, and managed a major renovation project after Hurricane Sandy.

Summary of your goals for the position

My goals as development chair are to broaden and share my knowledge and expertise pertaining to pediatric surgery, on a larger scale, such as working with APSNA by continuing to obtain vendors for sponsorship and participation at our annual conference, helping to create and develop innovative ideas in planning and coordinating sponsor/exhibit areas during our conference, planning and coordinating the research walk/run, promoting our APSNA book sales during the conference, and cohesively working together with other BOD members to carry out our mission while building strong professional relationships with both vendors and members of our organization.
