I have been a nurse for 26 years and the past 10 years I have been primarily in leadership roles. My career has involved surgical ICU care, 8 years in GI and Endoscopy and 4 years in colorectal surgery. I made the move to Pediatric Surgical care 4 years ago when I first came to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and I love it! At this point I never plan to return to the adult world. During my career I have had the opportunities to be involved in many different activities and have learned from all of those experiences. I am really energized by outcomes work and anything that involves moving a program forward. That is why I would love the opportunity to be a member of the APSNA Board in this role.
Summary of your goals for the position
Since joining APSNA I have been impressed with its growth and the zeal of the members to be a powerful force in the surgical care and outcomes for the patients we touch. Because of that I would like to be more actively involved in the leadership of the organization and helping to harness that member energy to make us an even more powerful voice in health care.
