Relationships are an important part of my role as a pediatric nurse practitioner. Maintaining those positive relationships is of the upmost importance at all levels.  I have made excellent relationships with the surgeons, nurse practitioners, nurses, vendors, families and patients.  Communication is key to keeping the relationships strong.  I am currently on the committee for Product Analysis for product approval and educating the staff regarding new products.  This is a crucial part of the role since my expertise on products are a valuable asset related to the pediatric surgical patient.

I am the Wound, Ostomy, Continence nurse for the Surgical Service for the Children’s center and work very closely with vendors.

As a leader, the Development Chair must be knowledgeable about fundraising (or curious enough to inquire), conversant with the organizational mission, and have enthusiasm for the work.  The Chair must keep track of the development program details, ensure that the strategies being implemented are the correct ones, and work with the other committee members to make sure their work is completed.  My ability to work well with all involved is of utmost importance for this position.  I am confident that my strengths for this chair position will help APSNA will excel and grow APSNA as an organization.

Summary of your goals for the position 

My goals for the Development Chair position are to strengthen current relationships and increase vendor sponsorship.  This in turn will allow for increased growth and vendor participation at our annual conference.  The great relationships that will be built as well as the financial benefit for APSNA will be a significant benefit for our members.
